To mark the commencement of the new academic year, the new batch of PGP 2014-15, at Northpoint participated in a tree plantation activity.
The rains did not support this wonderful cause it kept playing a game of peek-a-boo since morning. The activity was shifted to just before lunch, when we sought a little respite from the rains.
The venue for the activity was carefully chosen in a beautiful grove of trees in the area
adjacent to Ant Hill. The gardeners had dug pits and placed a sapling of Bougainville next to the each of pits.
Among the people present for this activity were the Chairman of Northpoint, Mr. Prem Mehta and Mr. Partha Rakshit, from Nielsen India. The Course Director, Ms. Velanie D’lima also congratulated the students on their new beginnings at Northpoint along with Col. Sarwottam Hasabnis.
Kaveri Chandrasheker, student of the PGPMarComm 2014-15 batch, read the pledge on behalf of all the Northpointers after which Mr. Mehta shared a few words of inspiration emphasizing on the triple bottom line, of self-developmental, environmental and social responsibility.
Some of the students got very creative and even gave names to their saplings like Twinkle Toes, Babloo, Tommy, Gabbar to mention just a few. Every student planted a sapling into the ground to symbolize the beginning of their professional careers. They pledged to take up responsibilities which would help their careers grow and give their best while at Northpoint. As the plant blossoms and grows, so will the students.
