“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

– Mark Twain

Students at Northpoint are taught to be successful professionals but in the course of attaining the required skills to be competent in respective fields, they are also groomed at the individual level to have empathy and compassion towards the society we all are part of. Like every year, the legacy is preserved by the current batch also, where all students dedicate their time to the service of elderly people at NAB Lions home and fill the emptiness of their usual routine. The NorCare students’ council took charge of this initiative and organized the visit. In their initiative, they included the task of helping the staff in cleaning the entire premises, distributed sweets to everyone and also served lunch to all residents, not only making the elders happy but also bringing joy to the staff members working there.

The elders residing in the institution might have had no sight, but their zest and passion towards life were truly inspiring. The most touching aspect of the visit for students was to see their capabilities with regard to the work they do. From knitting to making hand-crafted exquisite candles, they depicted self-dependency and strong will in a world where we all often crib when required to put some extra effort out of our comfort zone. Amazed by the flawless designs they create in knitting sweaters, many students willingly purchased merchandise, sweaters and shawls not only for themselves but also for their family members.

There is so much to learn from their indomitable spirit!

One often wonders what difference would it make by contributing a small amount in society and whether one’s small act of generosity would make any impact or not. But the truth is our minuscule efforts when viewed from the other side of the prism scatters into the spectrum of happiness and pleasure for many who remain devoid of recognition and appreciation. We, at Northpoint Center of Learning, believe that even a small gesture like this makes an adequate difference in the lives of people and also in the society we live in.
